I so badly wish this had been written better. I really enjoyed the story and the characters' progression through it - it's just such a waste to spoil the effect with piles of awkward exposition, sudden bouts of purple prose and wince-inducing truisms (the latter resulting in possibly the weakest final sentence I've ever read).
