To be honest, I was hovering between 2 and 3 stars for the most part and I'm still conflicted about the rating but I've decided on 4 with some benefit of the doubt for the final plot twist (that I actually didn't see coming) and its implications for the whole narrative. It explains a certain naivete and, for the lack of a better word, mushiness that irked me throughout the book to the point where I genuinely can't tell how good or bad a writer Lupton is. I suppose that's as good a reason as any to give her other (future, I understand?) works a try.edit: ...Actually, the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced it's a 3 after all.
